Patriot Family Salutes the “Military Spouse” Calendar 2009
  • Contest will run from May 11 until July 28th
  • Entries can be submitted on line to patriotfamily@aafes.com or by mail. (Physical address is below)
  • Judging will take place in early August
  • The twelve winning essays will be published along with photos of the winners in a “Military Spouse” calendar, which will be available in late October/early November in Retail Stores.
  • Column Ads with the Winning Essays’ will be included the Weekly Sales Promotion Tabloids.
  • Prizes include the following:
    • 12 Winners – (One for each month of the year) essay and photo to be included in “Military Spouse” calendar
    • $500 AAFES Shopping Spree

Eligibility:
Military Spouse Appreciation Essay Contest: persons who have served or whose spouse has served (retirees and currently serving) in the US Armed Forces are invited to submit an essay to nominate a special person from their installation who has gone above and beyond in support of deployed troops and their families. Nominee can be a spouse, friend or neighbor from the community that is able to shop AAFES.

Rules:

  • Type your essay, double-spaced, on one side of white 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper with left and right margins set at 1 1/4 inches each. When emailing essay, essay can be double spaced in word document format or doubled spaced and typed into the email message itself.
  • Write the essay in English on what your spouse/neighbor/friend has done to support your military community during deployment.
  • Essay must be in no more than 300 words.
  • Include your name, occupation, rank, address and phone number as well as nominee’s name, address and phone number on the top left hand corner of your essay.
  • Entries must be original, non-published works that do not infringe on any third party rights. AAFES reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not follow the rules, stray from original subject matter, include inappropriate language and references or at its sole discretion.

* Submitted essays will become property of AAFES and will not be returned.
