In conversations with personnel from our AAFES DC’s and stores concerning CONUS routing and carriers they should be utilizing, it has become apparent guidance needed to be provided.  Otherwise, transportation cost would continue to increase in FY 2007.  Failure to comply with the guidelines provided may result in a chargeback.

Below is a guideline for our AAFES Distribution Centers and Stores only.  The outline lists AAFES approved carriers for our Distribution Centers (inbound/outbound) and RETURN to VENDOR shipments from DCs/stores to vendors (If currently utilizing a carrier NOT on this list, AAFES is likely to be paying additional transportation cost):

CONUS AAFES Approved Carriers for Distribution Centers Inbound/Outbound:

Small Package Carrier (shipments 0-200 lbs., and 0-15 cube):
FEDEX Ground only  - DO NOT USE FEDEX FREIGHT!

Less Than Truckload Carriers (shipments 201- 5,000 lbs., and 16-700 cube):
UPS Freight ( Formerly Overnite Transportation)
YRC (Formerly Yellow Freight)

Truckload Carriers (shipments over 5000 lbs., and 700 cube):
AAFES Fleet
Approved Commerical Carriers utilized by AAFES LG Routers/AAFES Fleet

CONUS RETURN TO VENDOR shipments from DCs/Stores (RA approved, AAFES is paying the freight only):

Small package - (shipments 0-200 lbs., and 0-15 cube):
FEDEX Ground – DO NOT USE FEDEX FREIGHT! 

Less Than Truckload - (shipments 201- 5,000 lbs., and 16-700 cube):
UPS Freight (Formerly Overnite Transportation)

Truckload - (shipments over 5000 lbs., and 700 cube):
